This patient in her mid twenties from central Massachusetts came to my office to discuss breast augmentation. Her goals from surgery were full breasts with roundness in the upper breast. Roundness in the upper breast, from the collar bone to the nipple best seen on three-quarter view, is achieved by choosing an implant larger that the fill volume of the breast. I estimate the fill volume based on the physical examination. This patient choose an implant size slightly larger than her fill volume, silicone gel implants, an areolar incision (around the nipple), and the implants below the muscle. I used smooth walled round high profile 350cc implants.

The surgery takes about an hour, and patients are ready to go home shortly after the surgery is finished. I do not use drains of tight wraps and patients often do not require narcotic pain medication. Patients generally resume normal activities within one or two days following surgery.
